5 tips for bank fishing in shallow water conditions

Bank fishing challenges
No matter what kind of fishing you are, bank fishing, boat fishing, and fly fishing have different tips.
Today we will discuss 5 tips for shore fishing and how to get a pleasant fishing experience in shallow water.
Whether fishing on the bank of a wild lake or fishing on a farm pond, you will face a low-water environment.
It may therefore bring some unique challenges to even the most experienced bass angler.

5 tips for bank fishing in shallow water conditions
Especially in late summer and autumn bank fishing trips, droughts and floods can draw water from your favorite fishing holes and dry out your favorite coverings.
However, there are still many ways to catch fish.
Thanks to the continuous high temperature and almost no rainfall, I have a lot of time to conduct low water level bank fishing tests in summer and autumn.
Please keep the following tips in mind. The next time you go on shore fishing, you will have a lot of success.

1. Get a little closer from bank than normal
If bank fishing is at normal water levels, I am about 10 feet from the pond level.
But if the water level is about five feet lower, I will choose to get closer and shorten the distance from the surface appropriately.
It is important to remember that the bass tends to move with the water level.
Therefore, when the water level is low, I don’t think the bass will appear on the bank.
In fact, I went to the bank to look for signs of life. Whether it was blue, minced meat or fish, I found nothing.
That tells me that fish are gathering in deeper water, so it is important to be closer to the coastline from bank.

2.Pay more attention to the casting angles
Remember the whole “bass moves with water level” thing during a bank fising?
If your fishing area on the river bank is not covered at low water levels,
then the angles of the throwing line will play a big role.
Bass usually sits at the first depth change away from the embankment.

They are probably the most overlooked aspect of bank anglers.
For many reasons, they will apper on these step-like small depth changes.
If necessary, they can still bait in shallow water.
The breaking line enhances the safety of air predators.
Bass will move along these break lines.

3. It’s hard to beat the topwater lure
When bank fishing is facing low river water levels, I almost always have to rely on two techniques: weird wood worms and some type of top water bait.
I found that when the water level drops, the bass floats in the water column.
In other words, they are located between the surface and the bottom, hanging only at a position in the middle.

Because the trend of bass is to feed upwards, I hope that the hanging bass can easily ambush.
As long as the water temperature exceeds 55 degrees, you have a great chance to catch giants on the river.
My personal favorite is the soft plastic toad or hollow-bellied frog.

4. Keep frequent casts
I think that the low water level during bank fishing can make the bass fall into a strange mood.
When the bottom is sucked away, they will only become lifeless.
This is why it is so important to repeatedly casts into the water. This is a rare time, and it’s really good to be a stubborn angler.
After repeating the throwing several times, I did catch the bass, which proved to me the importance of repeated casting.
Bass is not always bitten by hunger. Sometimes, you must remove them and protect them from aggression.

5. When you catch one, there is more
I know that catching a Bass is not impressive, but it illustrates my point that when you are bitten somewhere,
you need to quickly unhook it and put the bait back as quickly as possible In place. There may be several others in the exact same location.
When the water level drops and the covering becomes scarce, any remaining covering in the water will become the main property of bass.
Essentially, the bass becomes concentrated, which creates competition.
Competition produces radical bass and makes anglers happy!
It is still difficult to get the first bite. However, once this is done, pay close attention to the exact location of the bite and make full use of the competitive bass in the area.

There are of course many techniques for bank fishing.
Each fishing angler with different experiences has his own unique secret,
but the five tips mentioned above are indeed a summary of my experience. I hope they can help you catch big bass.
